For families with children birth - 5 years old (not yet in kindergarten).
This is an ongoing reading club that promotes child and parent bonding through reading.
Children will receive a prize for every 100 books read and record. Any book read to your child counts, including books from story times or nursery school, even books your child has read before!
Give them the opportunity to feel proud of a huge accomplishment!
One thousand books may seem like a lot, but if you read just one book a night, you’ll meet your goal in less than 3 years. If you read three books a night, you could reach your goal in just one year!
Ask our friendly staff for suggestions—we’re here to help you on your journey to 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten!
?500 Books Before Junior High is an ongoing literacy program for elementary-age children in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Children are encouraged to read (or have read to them) any book, earning prizes along the way!
The goal is to read 500 books before entering Junior High School.
Just reading 2 books a week equals 104 books a year, which is plenty of time to complete the challenge!
Participants will earn prizes for every 100 book mile-stone they reach.
Club must be completed by June 30 of your 5th grade year.
Your goal, should you choose to accept it, is to read 100 books before you graduate from high school. If you do, you will receive prizes as you participate!
Prizes will be awarded after reading 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100 books!
Most importantly you will expand your mind, vocabulary, critical thinking, and test scores!
100 Books might sound like a lot, but don’t worry!
100 books over 7 years comes out to just over a book a month
Who Can Participate?
Students in the West Babylon School District who are entering 6th grade may begin the program the summer after 5th grade. Those who are already in high school may also participate and challenge themselves to finish 100 books!
The club must be completed by June 30 of your Senior Year of High School.
